EPS are insulating panels of expanded polystyrene foam, better known as Styropor. It is rigid panels of artificial polymer having a volume of 95% air. Does not contain ingredients that are harmful to health and the environment. It has good strength, minimal deformability, limited vapor permeability and does not absorb water. Although it is self-adhesive, EPS boards are flammable. It has poor sound-proofing qualities.
It is available as rectangular planes with straight angles without a support frame with thicknesses of 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 cm. For facade walls, a higher density polystyrene and a small grain size are used.
The boards are glued to the base using heat-sealing adhesive and must be dowelled.
Graphite EPS it is expanded polystyrene foam with graphite beads included in its composition, better known as Neopor. It does not change its shape and is resistant to aging.
XPS are panels of extruded polystyrene foam known for its trade name Fibran. It has almost zero vapor permeability, easily combusts and ages rapidly in contact with direct sunlight but has the best thermal conductivity coefficient and is suitable for isolating foundations, roofs, sockets, columns and washers, floor constructions.
Mineral Stone Wool is made of volcanic stones and is fire resistant. In addition to good thermal insulation properties, it also provides good sound proofing, vapor permeability, moisture resistance. Extremely suitable for ventilated facades. Unstable to pressure.
Mineral glass wool is formed of particles of glass and sand of quartz and limestone. It has all the properties of the Mineral Stone Wool. It is elastic and allows the thermal and sound insulation of different surface forms. It is used for thermal, acoustic and fire protection of the ceiling to an unheated roof room, suspended ceiling system, inclined roof structures, internal walls
The application of thermal insulation can be done by scaffolding or by alpine method. The most common and at the same time easier way of installation is the installation of scaffolding. It allows more movement of workers, better leveling.
Alpine mountaineers are used for tall buildings or for places where scaffolding can not be fitted. They are further trained to work in the air.
